This is the only temple in the Western hemisphere which houses the idol of Pratyangira Devi, an all-powerful goddess believed to have been the source of Lord Vishnu’s energy and power in his incarnation as Nrisimha to vanquish the demon Hiranyakasipu.
Maha Meru
At the feet of Goddess Pratyangira is Maha Meru resting on Kurma. Maha Meru, (drawing the plan view (top view) of its contours gives the design of the Sri Yantram is also considered as a representation of Lakshmi Devi.
Prayers to Pratyangira Devi frees devotees from drishti dosham (evil eye) and Maha Meru bestows prosperity.
